A special day requires a special setting. While classic hotels, restaurants and castles can provide you with some stunning wedding locations, often that certain je ne sais quoi can be missing. That’s why we’ve been on a mission to locate Germany’s most extraordinary wedding venues (and one in Austria, because it looked so dreamy!). Whether in a chocolate factory, football stadium or atop a mountain, there’s a host of unusual – yet romantic – locations to host your wedding. We’ve compiled a list of our 10 favorite ones. And of course, Berlin wedding photographer, Thomas Beetz is always on hand to accompany you on these adventures ;)
For art lovers
To marry surrounded by world-famous art, modern architecture and breathtaking scenery sounds like a fairytale. However, you can do just this at the Franz Marc Museum in Kochel am See. After a civil ceremony, you and your guests can indulge in a champagne reception in the foyer, before being whisked off for a tour of the expressionist exhibition. The museum restaurant, “Blauer Reiter,” with its impressive culinary offerings, completes the day!
Rivers of melted chocolate don’t only have to exist in Roald Dhal-inspired fantasies. Indeed, at the chocolate factory in the Cologne Chocolate Museum you and your guests can indulge childhood fantasies of drinking cups of sticky chocolate, surrounded by the scent of coca beans (after your wedding ceremony in the roof gallery of the Bel Etage, of course). Afterwards you can continue the feast in the museum restaurant, with its panoramic views of the River Rheine and Cologne Cathedral, while the party can go full swing under the glass roof of the stunning atrium.
